Autism Awareness Month
Autism is a developmental disorder that affects a child’s social, behavioral, and communicative abilities. As a spectrum disorder, it can affect children in different ways and to varying degrees. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, one out of every 88 children is currently diagnosed with autism, indicating a much higher prevalence than in previous years. Although there is no known cure for the disorder, increased awareness, funding, and support can help families affected today.
April is Autism Awareness Month. Increase your awareness and learn more about this disorder by visiting the Autism Society website or contacting West Hills Hospital & Medical Center at (818) 676-4000.
