Cancer care researchers have isolated a gene mutation that they believe contributes to the occurrence of thyroid cancer. To further study this mutation and test possible cures for it, these researchers are using mice models. Mice models can provide valuable information on which treatments are effective against the onset of thyroid cancer. With continued testing, more cancer care options will be made available to patients within the next 10 to 15 years.
